Is Corning's Centerway Square the best in the U.S.? How to vote in Readers' Choice Awards

Centerway Square, in historic downtown Corning, has once again been nominated for “Best Public Square” in USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

An expert panel at USA TODAY selected Centerway Square as one of the 20 contenders in the United States, according to the nomination.

"The town of Corning was revitalized in 1989, when two blocks of street were replaced with the pedestrian plaza known as Centerway Square," reads the description. "This brick-paved area features a 50-foot-tall clock tower, street lamps, cafe seating, and a covered stage for live events."

Voting began March 11, and will end Monday, April 8, at noon. Corning ranked No. 3 in the voting as of Friday, trailing Old Town Square in Fort Collins, Colorado and Campus Martius Park in Detroit, Michigan.

"It brings us immense joy to announce that Centerway Square has once again been honored with a nomination for the prestigious USA TODAY award,” said Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Corning Gaffer District.

“In these times, such recognition serves as a testament to our pride and an exceptional opportunity for visitors to explore the charm of this central highlight in our cherished Gaffer District. We are deeply grateful for every vote cast."
