Coraopolis Road closures to start on Monday, will continue periodically until fall

CORAOPOLIS ― Motorists traveling along Route 51 may need to plan for detours while traveling in the Coraopolis and Kennedy Township areas.

According to officials from Columbia Gas, crews will begin replacing nearly 3,700 feet of underground pipe near Coraopolis Road on Monday. Due to the long-term construction project, portions of the road will be periodically closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays until the early fall.

These planned closures will occur west of Herbst Road, near the Caring Heights Community Care and Rehabilitation Center. Signs will be posted to guide motorists through detours and these drivers are told to expect delays when traveling in the area.

Motorists are advised to practice caution when driving in the area for the workers' safety. Drivers can check the condition of the road and project status live on the 511PA website and smartphone app.
