Man killed in west Charlotte shooting, CMPD says

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in west Charlotte Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Toddville Road near Tuckaseegee Road.

Police said the victim, who was fatally shot, was a man in his thirties.

Channel 9′s Almiya White spoke with neighbors who said they heard gunshots.

“I noticed all the police and everything down here and I was very surprised,” neighbor Levy Broadie.

Broadie said the area will be on high alert following this shooting.

“I think we need to pay more attention and communicate with the Neighbors more. So, we can be on the lookout for each other,” Broadie said. Respect my surroundings and the people who approach, I’ll keep my eyes on them for now.”

Police said they are gathered doorbell footage from residents and hope it will help them piece together what occurred.

A person of interest is being questioned at CMPD headquarters.
