The nominations for The Dispatch's Student of the Week initiative are in, and now it's time for you to pick the best of the best.

Voting is open until noon Thursday.

Participating high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors nominated students they say have shown outstanding academic and school achievement and community service.

Previous winner: London's Daniel Johnson named Dispatch Student of the Week

We will announce the winner and runner-up on Friday.

The nominees for April 15:

Taylor Copas, East: “Don’t settle for average. Bring your best to the moment.” -Angela Bassett. Taylor Copas has not settled for average. She has shown up shining as bright as a diamond, and it is evident in everything she touches. Taylor is a junior at East who sits as an executive board member on the student council. She is a member of the highly esteemed Tiger Alliance, where she spearheads activities such as suicide and violence awareness for the student body. Taylor is a student athlete. She plays softball while maintaining a 3.7 GPA and working a part-time job. Taylor participates in the Upward Bound program and plans on entering college after graduation to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She was selected for the Ohio State College of Medicine’s prestigious MD Camp, and this summer will be completing the REaCH-LABS internship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Taylor is kind, thoughtful and  an all-around phenomenal person. We are proud to nominate Taylor Copas for the Columbus Dispatch’s Student of the week.

Olivia Sanabria, DeSales: Olivia was recently recognized by the Westerville Rotary Club for her academic achievements, currently holding a 4.124 GPA. She is a two-time Academic All-Ohio from the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association, a member of the swim team and plays lacrosse for the Stallions and is on track to earn 11 varsity letters. She also participated in the OSU BioMedical Research program this past summer.
