Burke County man charged with possession of more than 80 grams of drugs, two illegal firearms

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Burke County man had his bond changed several times after being arrested on gun and drug charges May 21.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Salem Road. During the search, deputies reportedly seized approximately 53 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 31 grams of suspected fentanyl, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and two firearms.

Authorities arrested 38-year-old Kyle Blackburn Brown, and charged him with Felony Trafficking of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held in the Burke County Jail after receiving no bond.

Brown’s bond was changed to $10,000 after a May 22 court appearance. He also received additional charges related to the suspected narcotics found inside the residence. These include:

  • Felony Possession with Intent/Sell/Manufacture/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance

  • Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substance

  • Felony Possession of Firearm by Felon, and

  • Felony Trafficking Fentanyl.

Brown’s was issued a no-bond hold, but the next day he received a $500,000 secured bond.
