Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputy hit by alleged drunk driver
DENVER (KDVR) — On Saturday, March 23, an Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck by a driver while heading to work at about 4:15 a.m., according to the agency.
The deputy was on his way to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility when the crash happened at the East Smoky Hill Road and South Liverpool Street intersection in Centennial.
According to the sheriff’s office, a tan Honda Odyssey was headed east on East Smoky Hill Road and struck the deputy’s Dodge Ram 1500 that was traveling south on South Liverpool Street. The deputy’s vehicle rolled onto its roof, but he was able to crawl out of the vehicle despite being injured.

The driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on charges of:
Driving under the influence of alcohol
Careless driving causing injury
Driving without a valid driver’s license
No proof of insurance
The deputy was medically evaluated and had no serious injuries. The suspect was booked into jail on a $1,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
The agency issued a simple warning at the end of its release regarding the deputy’s crash: Please don’t drink and drive.
“It needs to stop NOW. Let’s all do our part to keep our citizens safe,” the agency wrote.
