20-year-old motorcyclist killed in Dumfries hit-and-run

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Prince William County are investigating after a man was killed in a hit-and-run in Dumfries on Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the area of Richmond Hwy. and Pine Bluff Drive at 10:19 p.m. Police say a motorcyclist was speeding southbound on Richmond Hwy. when a pickup truck entered an intersection in the motorcycle’s path.

The motorcycle and truck collided and the driver of the pickup fled the scene.

Fairfax County police investigating fatal crash in Burke

The motorcyclist, 20-year-old Joseph Emmanuel Word, was taken to the hospital where he died.

The pickup truck was found abandoned behind a business near the crash site. Despite searching, officers said they could not find the driver.
