17-year-old dies days after overnight shooting in Aurora

DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police reported on Monday that a shooting that took place overnight Saturday, April 20 turned deadly on Friday when a teen girl died from her injuries.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the shooting took place in the 1000 block of South Blackhawk Street just before 1 a.m. on April 20 and left a 17-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries. An apartment complex and a shopping district border the road.

An Aurora police public information officer said on Monday that the teen girl died from her injuries on the afternoon of April 26. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office is responsible for providing her identity.

Details about the shooting are still sparse. Police have not said if the shooting was indoors, outside, or in a vehicle, and no arrests have been made in the case.
