15-year-old wanted for murder in shooting death of Evans boy, 14

A 15-year-old boy is wanted for the murder of a 14-year-old Murphey Middle School student at Cedarwood Apartments in Augusta on Tuesday.

Darryuan La'Kendrick Tanksley, 15, is wanted for murder and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Tanksley is known to frequent the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road West and the Barton Village neighborhood, according to the release. He a Black male with black hair in braids and no facial hair. He is 5-foot-8 and weighs 130 pounds.

Cedarwood shooting

Just before 8 p.m., Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Cedarwood Apartments at 527 West Richmond Hill Rd. for shots fired, according to previous reporting.

When deputies arrived, they found Anthony Rashad Harrison, 14, of Evans, who was shot at least once and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled, according to the coroner's office.

The 41-year-old owner of one apartment, which was struck by gunfire, was not home at the time of the shooting, according to an incident report.

Another apartment in the building was also struck by gunfire and all three occupants, including a 15-year-old and 17-year-old, were home, according to the report.

Harrison was an eighth-grader at Murphey Middle School, according to the school. Josey High School confirmed Harrison was doing workouts with the football team, ahead of attending Josey in the fall.
