Apartment fatal shooting victim identified as 14-year-old Evans boy

The Richmond County Coroner's Office has named the Murphey Middle School student who was shot and killed Tuesday night at Cedarwood Apartments in Augusta.

Anthony Harrison, 14, of Evans, was shot at least once and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

Just before 8 p.m., Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Cedarwood Apartments at 527 West Richmond Hill Rd. for shots fired, according to previous reporting.

When deputies arrived, they found Harrison, who died from being shot at least once. An autopsy is scheduled, according to the coroner's office.

Harrison was an eighth-grader at Murphey Middle School, according to the school. Josey High School confirmed Harrison was doing workouts with the football team, ahead of attending Josey in the fall.
