1 dead after shooting in Longmont

DENVER (KDVR) — Longmont police are investigating an early morning shooting that took place near a local bar.

According to a press release, two males had left a bar at 301 Main St. and were involved in a verbal and physical altercation.

After midnight on Friday, Longmont police responded to the two individuals in front of 321 Main St., just past the bar.

During the altercation, one of the individuals was shot. The shooter then called 911 and remained on scene until police arrived, according to Longmont Public Safety.

Christopher Johnston, 36, was pronounced dead.

The shooting is under investigation, but as of Friday morning, no arrests have been made. Police say there is no threat to the community.

Longmont police are looking for any videos taken by businesses or bystanders of this incident.

Police ask anyone in the bar between 9:00 p.m. on March 28 and 12:30 a.m. on March 29 who hasn’t spoken with police yet to contact Longmont Detective Jon High at 303-651-8584.
