Red nails aren’t anything extraordinary, but when Rihanna wears them, they feel like the coolest thing in the world. The singer just has that special touch that can make even the simplest things feel fresh. At the launch of her new Fenty x Puma Phatty Creeper collection, the Anti singer debuted ultra-blonde bangs in an oversized suit, but, we couldn’t keep our eyes off her chili red manicure and matching lip that added the perfect pop of color to her otherwise neutral look.

On April 17th, the star attended the launch of the new Fenty x Puma Phatty Creeper Earth Tone sneakers, which Rihanna also debuted on the carpet. She was styled in an oversized blazer and trousers from Peter Do that were a similar grey-brown shade as her sneakers. Her new blonde hair stood out from the earth-toned look, as did her bright chili pepper red nails.

On April 18th, Jenny Longworth, Rihanna’s nail artist, posted a close-up photo of the 36-year-old’s manicured nails to Instagram. Her nails were crafted into a coffin shape with red polish, and while it's tough to tell from the photos, it seems as though the shade has slight orange undertones that resembled a chili pepper red. To top off the manicure was an ultra-shiny finish.

Every Rihanna outfit has a cohesive, well thought-out feel. So, of course, she matched her nails to her lip color. She wore a matching matte liquid lipstick by Fenty Beauty, of course. Specifically, the brand’s Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color ($29) in Uncensored.

To achieve Rihanna’s chili pepper nails, Longworth used the shade J’adore ($19) from Glossify, and topped it with their Glossy Top ($19) top coat for the glazed finish. Although red is a timeless color, its popularity from last fall has been surpassed by new shades for spring (hello, butter yellow!) but that doesn’t make the color any less chic.

See Rihanna’s manicure as proof that sometimes, it's best to stick to the classics.
