Justin & Jeremy Garcia

The second night of Battles for Season 25 of The Voice continued with coaches John Legend, Reba McEntire, Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay pairing up their teams for sing-offs that determined which artist goes through to the Knockouts and which one goes home.

This season the Playoff Pass is back—and each coach gets just one, which means while one of their artists will go into the Knockouts, the other will go straight into the Playoffs. On night one, John used his Playoff Pass to send Bryan Olesen directly to the Playoffs and Reba used hers to allow L. Rodgers to skip the Knockouts.

And then, of course, each coach also gets one Steal to take an artist from another team to join theirs. On night one, Chance used his Steal to take Alyssa Crosby from Team Reba.

Battle Round 1: Justin & Jeremy Garcia vs Frank Garcia from Team Dan + Shay

Song: “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga

Winner: Frank Garcia

Shay said: “Frank, obviously, his voice is very powerful. He has something unique. There’s something as a whole that Frank has. The voice, the vibe, he’s kind of the whole package.”

Dan said: “I can’t wait to see Frank take it to the next level in the Knockouts.”

Steal: Justin & Jeremy Garcia

Reba said: “When we were doing the Blind Auditions, I wanted y’all so bad. I love your harmonies, I love that you’re brothers. It just sounds so good, so I want to work with you so bad. Welcome to Team Reba. I don’t have a duo on my team, and I love duos, so that’s a huge asset to my team. I love harmony, so I had to steal Justin and Jeremy. That blood harmony, you can’t beat it.”

Battle Round 2: William Alexander vs Zeya Rae from Team Reba

Song: “Just Give Me a Reason” by Pink (feat. Nate Ruess)

Winner: Zeya Rae

Reba said: “It was a very tough decision. It broke my heart to let William go but I had to pick Zeya. She had maturity, she had warmth in her voice. She has grown tremendously. I can’t wait to see what she’s got for the Knockouts.”

Battle Round 3: Maddi Jane vs Nadège from Team Chance

Song: “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”

Winner: Maddi Jane

Chance said: “I really love Maddi’s knack for improvisation. She’s obviously a star. She’s an extremely talented vocalist. I really want somebody who feels like they belong here to be on my team, somebody who has that confidence and strength. I think she can go all the way.”

It was a double Steal with both John and Dan + Shay vying to get Nadège on their teams. John said: “I have been telling her since the Blinds, I love you. I think you have such a beautiful gift.” But he was interrupted when Chance hit his Playoff Pass button and ended the possibility of a Steal.

Playoff Pass: Nadège

Chance said: “Must See TV! I had to give Nadège the Playoff Pass because her voice is so sultry and jazzy and when she’s pushing a belt, it always feels as if she’s still in her comfort zone. And I wanted a double dose of beating John Legend in a John Legend contest, so boom!”

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, and streams next day on Peacock.
