Viral Co-Op Horror-Comedy Game Content Warning Is Free for a Limited Time

On April Fool’s Day, developer Landfall announced and released its new game, Content Warning for free on Steam. While April Fool’s has come and gone, Landfall was not joking around with the game still being available for free. The game has players team up to create viral videos while exploring a spooky environment for “SpookTube”.

Within 24 hours of debuting on Steam, the game has amassed almost 100,000 players. As of the time of writing, the game saw a peak player count of 86,385 since its launch. Content Warning has been blowing up on social media, with players sharing their goofy moments across both the in-game social media site and real-world platforms like X/Twitter.

On Steam, the game has a respectable "Overwhelmingly Positive" review verdict with over 6000 reviews. Only around 200 reviews are negative, showing great momentum for Landfall's new title. Players are describing Content Warning as "literally lethal company but with landfall's silly and amazing physics".

Players can create parties in teams of two to four or play solo. Using the in-game voice chat and ASCII character customization, players will need to record funny moments while exploring the physics-driven horrors of "The Old World". As for item upgrades, that depends on the number of views and revenue you generate from your videos on Spooktube, with each run lasting for three in-game days.

Releasing silly games on April Fool's Day is a tradition for Landfall. The developer/publisher's previous games like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and Stick Fight were also released on April Fool's Day in previous years. The development team consists of just five people and was made in three months.

Content Warning is free on Steam until 9 AM PT/12 AM EST on April 2, 2024. After that, the game will be available for purchase at $7.99.
