Video of Orca Whales Playing Near the Shoreline in Washington Is a Must See

Talk about an amazing sight to see! @Chris Schwan shared a video in October that his son took of a couple of orca whales breaching extremely close to the shoreline of Commencement Bay at Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington. It's really incredible!

The video shows a couple of whales continuously breaching very close to the shoreline, as some seals along the shore watch. The seals start moving pretty quickly when they realize just how close the whales are to them!

What an incredible experience for father and son to share! This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime sights most of us will never get to see.

Commenters had a lot to say about the orcas that appear to be playing so close to the shore. @Lorena pointed out, "Looks like that orca is staying close to the shore because of those seals. Beautiful animal" and Chris replied back, "Yes, I was told they were teaching their young how to hunt. Those poor seals!" @Marcus Wallace asked, "How deep does that water go right off the beach"? Chris replied, "Not sure but the locals say it’s really deep! Deep enough to breach the water like he’s doing." Another commenter shared, "As a Free Willy kid, I’d be absolutely bawling my eyes out". @RA Scott873 added, "The power in the sound as he hits the water- just gorgeous!" Chris agreed and said, "That sound of him slapping the water was deafening."

I hope one of these days I can see something like this happen. Nature is so beautiful, and I definitely have a fearful respect for the strength of those whales!
