VIDEO: Ben Gravy and Zeke Score the 'Day of the Decade' Surfing La Jolla Cove

As huge swells rocked the California coastline over the last few weeks, surfers were getting lucky. Or at least they were trying. And New Jersey's Ben Gravy is no different.

While he's known for riding soft tops on weird waves in all 50 states, shin-high bombs on Lake Geneva, and boat wakes in Germany, lately he's been chasing non-weird waves. "Normal" waves, one might say.

In December, he paid a visit to the North Shore and surfed all-time Rocky Point and got some bombs at Waimea Bay with bi-coastal surf buddy Jacob "Zeke" Szekely. In the edit below, they're back together chasing big surf in San Diego.

Captioning the video above, Gravy wrote:

"It's not often you experience the "day of the decade" surf at any spot, let alone the world renown big wave novelty of La Jolla Cove in San Diego.

"Obviously this wave isn't the craziest thing ever, but it is cool to hear that it hasn't broken since Big Wednesday 2014 or something...? haha

"hope everyone is enjoying the California VLOGS, believe it or not there's still much more to come! Thanks for the stoke! - Ben"

In the latest edit, the waves are massive, the whole world's out to watch, and there's a novelty wave in the mix. With La Jolla Cove, it's a two birds, one stone situation.

As surfers are prone to do, Zeke and Gravy check the waves and overthink about where to surf.

Finally, Zeke says:

"On a swell event like such, there's two options. You can be the f*cking man and grab your 10' 6" and go be a Big Wave Dave, or you can the myth and the legend and surf the novelty wave of the century."
