Utah Pigs Give Cops the Run Around During Wild Chase Through Neighborhood

In Grantsville, Utah three little piggies took police on a wild chase through suburbia as they attempted to catch the little runaways before they hurt someone or got hurt themselves.

The Grantsville City Police department shared the hilarious hijinks to their Facebook page.

Fox 13 reports that Officer Cory Cooper was the amazing hero who took the pigs down. "Pigs are notorious for escaping," he explained. "I've known a lot of people who've had them and I've had some experience chasing pigs down when they get out." Four to five officers got to work, with Cooper saying the pigs "eluded" officers for a while.

Law enforcement was unable to determine who these runaway pigs belonged to, so they will be headed to a rescue.

Things to Know Before Adopting a Pig

There is no such thing as a teacup pig.

So many people adopt or purchase what they are told is a teacup pig or mini-pig and when the pig grows to its actually size, which can be hundreds of pounds, the poor animal ends up at a pig rescue or animal shelter. According to the SPCA, There are many breeds of pigs sold as “mini pigs,” including the Kunekune, Juliana and Pot-bellied pig. However, even the smallest breeds of pigs will not remain very small. According to the American Mini Pig Association, a standard mini pig can range from 35 – 50 cm tall and can weigh between 50 – 150 pounds full grown. That is as tall as a border collie, and can be as heavy as a St. Bernard! Any breed of pig that weighs under 350 pounds is considered a “miniature pig.”
