Tracy Morgan Makes Surprising Claim About His Ozempic Use

Tracy Morgan, like a handful of other celebrities, has tried using Ozempic for weight loss. But as we now know, his experience with the medication hasn't been as straightforward as some described.
During his Tuesday, March 19, appearance on The Tonight Show, the 55-year-old made quite the statement about his ongoing trial with the semaglutide medication.
When host Jimmy Fallon told the comedian that he “look[ed] good” and asked how he was “staying in shape these days,” the SNL alum credited the controversial weight loss drug–but he also hinted that it hasn't been easy to keep up with.
"That’s Ozempic,” Morgan replied. “I’ve learned to out-eat Ozempic. I out-ate Ozempic. I’ve gained 40 pounds."
"Really?" Fallon questioned. "I've never heard of anyone gaining 40 [pounds] on [Ozempic]."
"Absolutely," Morgan replied before joking, "I’m like Magic Johnson. I gained 40 pounds."
While it's unclear if Morgan has stopped use of the drug or if he remains on the regimen, in August 2023, he told Today co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that when he first started taking Ozempic he was eating way less.
"It cuts my appetite in half,” he said at the time. "Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos."
Morgan went on, telling Kotb and Bush Hager that in addition to the weekly injections, he has a strict workout routine.
“I get up at 7 every morning, and I’m in the gym at 10,” he shared. “Then I go back to sleep. And that’s my life.”
Ozempic has been FDA-approved as a treatment for adults with Type 2 diabetes since 2017, but the use of it has expanded since discovering it could be used as a tool for weight loss (though the latter statement has yet to be approved by the federal health agency).
Despite that, it's received approval from several stars who have used Ozempic or drugs like it, praising its success.
However, the list of people speaking out against its side effects and overall use as a weight loss tool has continued to grow in recent months. Among them, Marie Osmond said she doesn't believe it will be a "long-term effective" solution, Sharon Osbourne has issued warnings suggesting it's "it’s easy to become addicted to [losing weight]," and Real Housewives star Jennifer Fessler claimed she was hospitalized for an Ozempic-related health complication.
