Sanctuary Throwing Cow Special 20th Birthday Party and Everyone's Invited

As someone who's owned and helped to raise several animals, I understand just how special it is to celebrate important milestones together. Our animal friends deserve a chance to be celebrated every now and then, but a party or acknowledgment for them is also a big 'thank you' to anyone who's helped care for them.

The spirits are high at Uncle Neil's Home in Bridgeton, New Jersey, and that's because they're getting ready to throw a party! In May, resident rescue cow Helen will turn 20 years old, and the animal sanctuary is holding the celebration of the season. They announced the event in an adorable February 5 TikTok post, and--no surprises here--the birthday bash tickets sold out only one day later. Even so, you'll want to take a peek at this sweet birthday girl and the video that has her fans waiting in anticipation.

OMG! Helen, the rescue cow, is too cute, and she seems as content as can be while relaxing out in the pasture. Clearly, she doesn't mind leaving the brunt of the party planning work to her rescuers! All this bovine gal will do is oversee and attend, and that's more than enough.

This animal sanctuary resident has been popular among @uncleneilshome fans for her sweet nature and love for rescued dairy cow Margaret, but this birthday party will be her true chance to shine. As it turns out, this cow is actually blind! She may not be able to take in the festivities in the same way another animal would, but the sounds, attention, treats, and gifts are going to be more than enough. Despite her obstacles and her difficult bath, Helen is a happy cow!

How Old Do Cows Live to Be?

Birthday parties for dogs may be becoming more popular, but parties for farm animals are still pretty rare. So when I do see a celebration for a large animal like a cow, I can't help but think it's a pretty special occasion!

And it most certainly is. Helen will be turning 20 years old, and the natural lifespan for a cow is 15-20 years. Now it makes sense why we're celebrating! This sanctuary cow isn't just surviving at Uncle Neil's Home--she is thriving.

In January, Helen was given the second greatest gift (after her freedom from the dairy farm) in the form of a best friend. The cow named Margaret was also rescued from the dairy industry, and the two have been companions ever since. All of these changes have made a wonderful difference in this elderly cow's life, and now she's getting ready to celebrate her biggest milestone yet.

Although tickets have already sold out, you can read more about Helen's birthday party on Uncle Neil's website or keep an eye on their social media pages. I can't wait to see pictures and videos from her party this spring!
