When a celebrity walks onto a red carpet, there’s something about their confidence and elegance that just makes the whole package seem effortless. Sure, most are professional actors and fooling photographers and onlookers is just a part of the job, but most women make it all look so easy, like they didn’t spend hours in a makeup chair, trying on every dress before picking one, and not finding a pair of shoes to match until the very last second. But Ryan Reynolds reveals that while Blake Lively might look composed once she starts posing, during prep time, she’s just like us.

Asked by a fan at a Huffington Post event about his wife’s ability to constantly “slay” the red carpet, he said, “My wife knows how to work a red carpet, I’ll say that. Yeah, she might be the Beyoncé of red carpets,” bestowing his bride with the ultimate compliment. He continued, “She’s turned that into an athletic event. I see what goes into that … real science. It’s unbelievable. You guys see the finished product, I see the totally destroyed closet, bedroom and kitchen by the time she walks out the door, so yeah, I don’t even know how shoes got in the freezer. It’s like that, it’s seriously nuts. There’s kung fu involved, it’s really intense.” Lively actually has gone against the Hollywood grain and foregone a professional stylist, so her actions aren’t all that surprising. It’s like the pressure of preparing for a first date times a thousand.

But while plenty of credit goes to the actress, perhaps comparing her to Beyoncé is a taking things a little too far. After all, Lively did admit herself that she’s no Beyoncé. When the Age of Adaline star announced her pregnancy with baby James, she posted a picture of her bump to Preserve, her lifestyle website. “That was my way of owning that moment. I can’t be someone like Beyoncé…” who famously forewent a traditional written notice and bared her growing belly onstage. “But it was important for us. It was a struggle, because we want to keep our privacy, but we also don’t want our lives to be exploited by other people. So we did it simply; it was a quiet way, an elegant way.”

So maybe she’s more like the Kelly Rowland?
