Blake Lively Dishes on Fashion Regrets & How Baby James is “Disturbingly Beautiful”

How do you solve a problem like Serena? That’s what Blake Lively is figuring out right now. The American sweetheart revealed to Allure that people still confuse her with the chaos-courting heroine of Gossip Girl despite to years since its finale, not to mention the very public launch of Lively’s new website Preserve. Now comes The Age of Adaline, Lively’s first acting role since Gossip Girl’s end, and another chance to prove herself as a Hollywood mega-star.

To that end, Mrs. Ryan Reynolds reportedly begged for the title role, a woman blessed / cursed as an immortal 29-year-old beauty. “Begged is a strong word,” said director Lee Toland Krieger at the film’s premiere. “What I will say is this part was really, really demanding. I wasn’t going to be easily wooed by anybody. But before we even started casting, Blake’s reps called and said, ’She loves the script, she’s perfect, you’ve got to sit down with her’… And when Blake decides she wants something, there’s no stopping her!” (For the record, Mr. Krieger has never met bébé James, “but I saw a picture. It is disturbing how beautiful she is… with that gene pool, she’s got a pretty good deal.”

Adaline may be immortal, but Lively is not (though tell that to her lineless skin and insane post-baby body). But now that she’s a superstar, photos of her —thousands of them—will live on forever. "I never thought about that!” She laughed. “But now I wish I did! I’m going to keep thinking about that… but I don’t think I would do anything differently. Photos of me surface from ten years ago, and I think, ‘Oh dear god, I wish I hadn’t worn that dress! It’s so awful!’ But an outfit also marks where I was at that time in my life, and I think that’s important.”

Important for Yahoo Style: Lively’s current dress of choice, a lipstick red Monique Lhullier gown with fluttery chiffon trim and scarlet feathers on the skirt. “It has to go back [to the designer’s showroom] tomorrow,” Blake laughed, further cutting off her TV past…after all, everyone knows Serena van der Woodsen would have stolen that s!*#t.
