Blake Lively's Ready to Wear Marchesa Right Now

Blake Lively was the big celebrity guest at Marchesa’s fashion show in New York on Wednesday evening. She loved the collection so much that she told Yahoo Style, “You might find me wearing it backstage!”

Lively, making her second post-partum appearance this week, wore a voluminous black gown printed with chartreuse birds, and when asked how she felt about dressing after recently giving birth, she said, “Different.” The new mom sat next to Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and said, “I thought it was beautiful. The floral pieces were my favorite.”

And if the 27-year-old had asked me to accompany her backstage to play a game of ball gown dress up, I would have been there in a heartbeat. (Serena Van Der Woodsen would have totally approved of the pieces for a Gatsby-themed socialite bash—and I could pull off being Blair for the night.)

It shouldn’t surprise you that Marchesa’s FW 2015 collection was elegant, sophisticated, and regal; the OG ball gown brand usually is. Designer Georgina Chapman channeled her English roots, producing a roaring ‘20s-inspired show that was rich, elegant, and seductive in a palette of burgundy, poppy red, black, and gold. Dresses boasted ostrich feathers, tulle, and plunging necklines, topped off with a sort of elevated Downtown Abbey-look: dark lips, tucked bobs, dazzling earrings, and over-the-top headpieces. One things for sure, this was a collection full of Oscar-worthy gowns.

Lively, though, couldn’t confirm whether any fellow actresses would be wearing the looks to this weekend’s big awards show. “Oh I don’t know. You’ll have to ask a psychic,” she laughed. It may have been a daft query, but like they say––it never hurts to ask!
