The 26-year-old singer and actress is said to be seeking treatment after a rumored panic attack brought on by medical setbacks. Gomez, who has lupus, received a kidney transplant from a friend, Francia Raisa, last year. She has reportedly had low white blood cell counts in recent weeks, prompting two hospitalizations and, sources say, intense anxiety.

Insiders claim Gomez hopes that dialectical behavior therapy — which aims to identify and avoid patterns of negative thinking — will help her cope with the stress surrounding her health.

“She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues,” a source told People. “She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”

The news comes just weeks after Gomez — who just released her collaboration with Cardi B and DJ Snake, “Taki Taki” — told fans she was taking a break from social media. Her message referred to the hurtful impact of “negative comments.”

It’s not the first time Gomez has sought professional treatment to address anxiety, panic attacks, and depression triggered by her lupus. In 2016, she canceled the European and South American legs of her “Revival” tour in order to check into a treatment center. She also spent time at an Arizona facility in 2014.

Gomez’s fans are supporting the rumored reprioritizing of her mental health. The pop star’s Instagram mentions have been flooded with “get well soon” messages.

Yahoo has contacted Gomez’s team for comment.
