Like many people my age, I was introduced to Clinique by my mother; who, I’d imagine, discovered the brand through her mother — who likely encountered it at a department store counter. Established in the 60s, the legacy brand, which formulates for sensitive skin, has remained very much relevant — a testament to its effective products.
My favorite Clinique product, the Moisture Surge Face Moisturizer, is also a go-to for Emilia Clarke, who told me she’s “obsessed” with the stuff. If you have yet to try it yourself, consider this a sign: First, the gel-like formula is perfect for the balmier months ahead, as it’s cooling and impossibly lightweight on the skin — yet still adequately quenching. The Clinique Moisture Surge Auto-Replenishing Hydrator is a highly quenching face cream with a gel-like texture. Perfect for all skin types, including oily and ultra-dry, the lightweight formula is ideal for anyone seeking deep hydration, instant plumpness, and a non-greasy skin-feel. I’ve not personally counted the minutes of dewy radiance it delivers, though the 100-hour hydration claim seems more or less accurate.

ICYMI: This balmy, buildable lip tint has amassed quite the fanbase — and understandably so. A longtime bestseller for the brand, it's already soared to the top of Amazon’s new beauty releases. The shade, despite its distinct plummy hue, is universally flattering, and somehow complements any makeup look. Plus, it’s hydrating, similar to a lip balm, and leaves lips silky in a few swipes. I keep the slender tube in my purse at virtually all times, and turn to it more frequently than the majority of the lipsticks in my (extensive) collection.

Clinique’s first-ever moisturizer, this fragrance-free, wrinkle-whittling formula is deeply hydrating, yet absorbs quickly and feels weightless on skin. According to one 80-year-old shopper, who calls it “perfect” it’s entirely “non-greasy.” Says another reviewer, the cream makes skin look “dewy and youthful.” The formula works on all skin types — and, per the brand, is even gentle enough to use post laser resurfacing treatments. Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover

A key component of Clarke’s daily skincare ritual, this cleansing balm is gentle on sensitive skin — yet tough on stubborn makeup, including waterproof mascara (incidentally, Clinique makes an excellent formula for sensitive eyes). Safflower seed oil dissolves residue and, per shoppers, gives skin a “silk texture.”
