One of the perks of being a beauty editor is that I don’t panic when I’m about to empty a bottle. It’s actually exciting for me; an opportunity to use another product on my to-try list. But when I ran out of Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Dew Drops, I was slightly panicked until I remembered that I had the brand’s Sun Glow Hue Drops, a new variation of its original, waiting in the wings.

You might already be familiar with the original Dew Drops given that they’ve been a repeat viral sensation and have 7,000-plus five-star ratings across retailers. I’m a dedicated user, too; my skin craves the hydration and my makeup looks markedly better when I have it on. All that to say: The new slightly tinted Sun Glow Hue Drops had a lot to live up to.

The Glow Recipe Hue Drops are actually more versatile than the original (which I thought was impossible). I’ve used it on a bare face as a complexion-enhancing skin tint, under foundation as a glow-boosting primer, and strategically under foundation to sculpt my face. But, it has more uses than that: In the summer, I imagine I’ll be mixing it into my foundation to make  my too-pale winter shades summer-ready.

Glow Recipe’s Hue Drops achieve so much by building on the original formula’s base of niacinamide, watermelon, and hyaluronic acid, with centella extract and pigment. Niacinamide is a big deal here thanks to its reparative, texture-smoothing, and pore-minimizing properties. Watermelon is vitamin- and hydration-rich and hyaluronic acid is plumping and moisture-retaining. The formula’s specific pigment and centella extract go hand in hand: The former is a skin-correcting pigment and the latter a redness and inflammation-soothing ingredient.

I see short- and long-term benefits from using this, immediately getting a more even-toned, pore-less, radiant, and warm complexion with radiance brought back to my dull winter complexion. Plus, just like its predecessor, with repeated use, I see more plump, hydrated, and smooth skin, too.
