(FOX40.COM) — Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and there will be plenty to do in Sacramento.

Sacramento County Fair

The Sacramento County Fair will take place at Cal Expo starting Thursday and will continue until Monday.

The five-day event will include carnival rides, live concerts, livestock and horse shows and a kid’s zone.

Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults, $10 for kids and children under 12 get inside the fair for free. All-you-can-ride wristbands are $35 at the gate and parking is $10.

Why Memorial Day was moved to always be on Monday

Community Event at Memorial Auditorium

The city of Sacramento is hosting a free Memorial Day community event honoring the lives lost while they were serving their country.

The event will occur from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium in downtown Sacramento.

City officials said the Memorial Day event will feature a flag ceremony where the American flag will be raised at the front steps of the building followed by an honor guard presentation.

The event will also include an open house in the auditorium, which “will feature patriotic and Americana music” on the Estey Municipal Organ located inside the chambers.

Throughout the event, guests could hear chimes from the Memorial Auditorium which will sound the national anthem on top of every hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

No RSVP is required, but attendees need to register for the event.

Veterans’ Memorial Day Car Show

The Veterans’ Memorial Day Car Show is returning Monday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the California Automobile Museum (CAM).

Along with showcasing cars, military vehicles will be displayed and there will be a color guard presentation. Coffee, donuts, hot dogs, chips, drinks and beer will be on sale throughout the day.

All event proceeds will be going towards CAM Educational Programs and Wounded Warriors.

Admission to the museum is $12 for adults, $10 for people 65 and over, $10 for military and students, $6 for kids 6 to 17 years old and free for children 5 and under.

Rancho Cordova Memorial Day ceremony

The Cordova Community Council is hosting a Memorial Day event that pays tribute to those who served in the United States military.

The event is taking place at the Cordova High School Performing Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday. Admission to the event is free.

The event will include a musical tribute by the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band and a special observance marking the 75th anniversary of NATO, according to the city of Rancho Cordova.

Stockton Ports vs. Modesto Nuts

Baseball fans can make their way to Stockton on Monday to watch future major leaguers.

The Stockton Ports are hosting the Modesto Nuts for a Memorial Day matchup at 6:05 p.m. at Banner Island Ballpark.

Tickets for the game are available online.
