We've all been there...it's 3 or 4 p.m. and you get a hankering for an afternoon pick-me-up. Or maybe it's just after dinner, and you need a little taste of something sweet to cap off the meal. Enter the sweet treat. I usually reach for a piece of the nearest (or newest) chocolate confection in my pantry, and now I have a brand new one I'll be turning to when I need my chocolate fix.

Lindt Introduces 2 New Lindor Truffles

Lindt, the Swiss chocolatier known for its decadent chocolate bars and melt-in-your-mouth Lindor truffles, has two new products in its lineup, and they're a first-of-their-kind for the brand. This month, Lindt announced the new Milk & Dark Chocolate OatMilk Truffles, plant-based versions of its most popular truffles. These are Lindt's first dairy-free chocolate truffles, and come following the successful 2022 launch of Lindt's Non-Dairy OatMilk Bars.

Both truffles feature an outer shell made with rich and high-quality oat milk chocolate and that same smooth, melty center you know and love from a Lindor truffle. According to Lindt Master Chocolatier, Ann Czaja, "Lindt Lindor OatMilk truffles offer the same luxurious, smooth melting chocolate experience," as the original Lindor truffles.

As someone who is lactose intolerant, I was skeptical. Over the years, I've tried my fair share of plant-based and dairy-free desserts that claimed to live up to their dairy-full counterparts, only to be sorely disappointed. I got to taste the new Lindt OatMilk Truffles a few weeks back, and here is my honest review.

Lindt Lindor OatMilk Truffle Review

Honestly, the Lindt dairy-free oat milk truffles blew me away. I was expecting them to be a little less rich or have an off aftertaste as many vegan chocolates do, but they were virtually indistinguishable from the regular Lindt Lindor truffles. To confirm I wasn't just imagining it, I had my dairy-loving boyfriend try them, and even he admitted they were spot on.

Don't believe me? Early reviewers sing their praises. "Where have these been all my life?!," writes one reviewer. "These were very good and tasted almost identical to the original truffle that I’m not sure I’d be able to tell the difference," adds another. One Amazon reviewer writes, "Hands down the best vegan chocolate I've had. Smooth and creamy, honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and the milk chocolate."

If you're someone who chooses to avoid dairy or can't eat it for dietary reasons or restrictions, these will be a very welcome addition to your life. And honestly, even if you can have dairy, they make for a perfect sweet treat anyway. Right now, they come in bags of milk chocolate truffles, dark chocolate truffles, and a mix of the two, though my fingers are crossed that Lindt will release flavored fillings in the future, too. You can find them now at retailers nationwide.
