Take a ‘leap of faith’ at Skydive Suffolk to help those in need

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – You are invited to take a “leap of faith” with one of our area’s nonprofits. LIFT Fitness Foundation invites you to its inaugural Leap of Faith skydiving event in celebration of its 10-year anniversary.

Jim White started LIFT after his beach boot camp attracted homeless individuals on the boardwalk wanting to join in. This ignited a passion to serve those in need through fitness and wellness education.

Since then, LIFT has continued to grow, partnering with organizations like the Salvation Army, ForKids, Boys & Girls Club, PIN Ministry and many others to serve more than 441 graduates. Its programs have led to more than 292 million steps taken, significant health improvements and a foundation for sustainable, productive lives.

LIFT has holistic wellness programs that focus on nutrition classes led by registered dietitians, fitness and exercise classes led by certified personal trainers, and goal setting and vision boarding led by mental health professionals.

Let’s talk numbers. A LIFT spokesperson says 441 people have graduated from the organization’s programs. A total of 292,215,557 steps have been taken by LIFT’s athletes. 67% of athletes achieved weight loss with a total combined weight loss of 876 pounds so far.

They have seen a reduction in diabetes risk by 8.22%, and 84% of athletes say they feel better prepared for employment, with 83% having a clear vision of their long-term goals.

LIFT wants you to join the organization on Saturday, May 4, at Skydive Suffolk to take a leap of faith, the same leap of faith that so many underserved individuals in the Hampton Roads community take towards a healthier, brighter future. Organizers say this is more than an event; it’s a celebration of a decade’s long journey, and a step towards LIFT’s mission to create a foundation of wellness for those most in need.

Every ticket supports LIFT’s holistic wellness programs that transforms lives through nutrition, fitness, and empowerment. There is still time to sign up. The foundation hopes to bring on 50 jumpers, and tickets are still available. To purchase tickets, click here.
