We might not be seeing a whole lot of Joel in The Last Of Us season 2.

That’s because his actor Pedro Pascal is rumored to have already finished filming his scenes in HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama series, seemingly ahead of his castmates, according to @DanielRPK.

As per a January article in Good Housekeeping, the The Last Of Us season 2 “starts filming on February 12, 2024, slated for Vancouver, Canada.” If Pedro Pascal has wrapped up his commitments with the show just one month on, that could suggest his character is not long for this world.

It would chime with what happens in the video game on which the show is based. In The Last of Us Part 2, which released for PlayStation 4 and 5 in 2020, Joel meets a sticky end at the hands of a survivor he wronged in the past.

Joel’s possible death in the show would also free the actor up for his commitments to Marvel’s The Fantastic Four film, which he stars in.

However, maybe Pascal just filmed his scenes early in order to get them out of the way so he could start work on The Fantastic Four, and it doesn’t relate to his fate on the show. In other words, Joel isn’t necessarily dead just because his character in the game is.

In any case, his next movie has an equally big ‘get’ for its villain, with The Fantastic Four reportedly eyeing Javier Bardem as Galactus.
