The Last of Us

The Last of Us Season 2 will stream on HBO Max and its partners sometime in 2025.

That release window has been confirmed in a video from HBO highlighting its original shows for 2024 and beyond. Following brief clips of 2024 shows including The Penguin (ooh!), True Detective: Night Country (yes!) and House of the Dragon (rasp!) we catch a glimpse of shows pencilled in for the following year.

Those include The Last of Us Season 2, with the inclusion of a brief shot from the first season. The second season isn’t due to start filming until early next year, so it’s no surprise that it’s got a 2025 date attached.

The Last of Us Season 2 stars Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal in the two main roles, and it seems Kaitlyn Denver is being lined up to play the role of Abby. One of the most interesting additions to Season 2 will be footage that’s based on scenes that were cut from The Last of Us Part 2 game.

Those cut scenes will be seen for the first time in the upcoming rerelease of The Last of Us Part 2 for PS5. Players will be able to explore three cut sections from the original game, which also include developer commentary, and a new survival mode.

The No Return mode lets players take on the roles of Ellie, Abby, Tommy, Jesse and more, and battle enemies in a rogue-like across multiple settings from the game. It adds randomisers to keep things fresh, and players get to unlock skins after beating tough boss fights. The Last of Us Part 2 for PS5 is out January 19.
