The Last of Us

The Last of Us Season 2 will include elements cut from the original game, according to director and show producer Neil Druckmann.

Sony is poised to release a special edition of The Last of US Part 2 Remastered for PS5, including a new mode and three “lost levels”. It’s elements from one of those cut levels that will be included in the second season of the show when it releases in 2025.

"As a tease, I will say there is at least one element from a cut level that is planned [for] the show," Druckmann told Entertainment Weekly.

"I say that with the caveat that we haven’t started filming the show yet and all things are subject to change based on what we ultimately feel will be best for the show."

The cut levels from the game aren’t complete, and are included in the remastered game to give insight into the development of the game as much as a playable experience.

"These aren’t fully finished levels, but rather early-development slices that not only let you see some new glimpses of Part 2’s world, but also include embedded developer commentary to give them richer context," detailed developer Naughty Dog.

"Explore these spaces and hear directly from the team about the intention of aspects of each level – this is a unique inclusion for our studio and we’re excited to allow players a glimpse into the creative process."

The Last of Us Season 2 is to resume filming early 2024, with Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal set to return as Ellie and Joel, respectively. New to the show will be Kaitlyn Denver playing the role of Abby - a significant part for the second season.
