Prime Day special: This $15 laser thermometer is 'quick, accurate, great for BBQ' and nearly 50% off

What is it?

Do your soufflés fall flat? Is your pizza oven not reaching the temperature you want? It's time to let go of those old analog thermometers and bring your cooking game into the digital age with the Kizen Infrared Thermometer Gun. This nifty gadget can measure temperatures as low as -58°F (way too cold for cooking) and as high as a staggering 1,112°F. Oh, and it's on sale right now for just $15 (that's 49% off) for Prime Day.

You can use this No. 1 bestselling gun to measure the surface temperature of nearly anything, whether you're cooking or checking your freezer after a power outage.

Why is this a good deal?

Kizen is a well-known brand with a trustworthy reputation. This device normally commands a higher price tag, but this Prime Day deal has cut the cost by nearly half to the lowest price we've seen since February. (But hurry, Prime Day ends today!)

Why do I need this?

Whether you're checking the doneness of burgers on the grill during a game-day cookout or you want to test the accuracy of your oven temperature, old-school thermometers often don't get the job done. A laser thermometer gives you a more accurate (not to mention safer) temperature reading so your food always turns out as you want.

It's accurate to extreme temperatures, and the large, backlit LCD screen makes it easy to read temperatures even in the dark. The one thing this thermometer is not good for is measuring human body temperature. It's no replacement for an under-the-tongue thermometer for checking fever.

What reviewers say

More than 12,600 fans have given this beauty a perfect rating. "If you want to measure high temperatures for pizza or welding or something, this is for you. Cheap and effective. My old pistol only went up to 600 [degrees]. Can't measure a pizza oven's heat with that," one fan explained.

Another pizza-loving fan said, "The accuracy is amazing. Uses a red laser to get to the temperature right on the very spot needed, especially when needing to know if my Ooni is ready to cook pizza. Comes with two batteries, so it’s good to use. The viewing screen is large. Great to have."

"Quick, accurate, easy to use, great for BBQ," wrote a fan. "I bought this for checking charcoal and grill temperatures in my Big Green Egg. Tried it around the house, pointed at the ice cube tray in my freezer, at items in my fridge, etc. All readings checked out."

"Bought this for my husband to check the air temperature coming from our registers. It only tests surface temperature so you could use it to test oven temp, grill temp or inside of refrigerators. I used to check the concrete temp, which was 126 degrees. Also can be used to taunt a cat with the light," said a fun-loving user.

"The only downside is the color. I don't like the orange. But everything else is nice," another shopper said.

Suspect your air conditioning unit isn't working properly? This laser thermometer can confirm.
