King Charles III

King Charles was spotted heading out for what's become a rather infrequent public outing since being diagnosed with cancer last month.

The new photo, which was published by the Daily Mail on Friday, March 8, showed the 75-year-old in the back of a vehicle leaving Windsor Castle earlier that same day.

According to the outlet, the king was photographed leaving the castle two days after it was announced that his close friend and huntsman Ian Farquhar had died at the monarch's Highgrove estate, presumably headed to services mourning Farquhar's death.

The rare sighting comes just shy of one month since the king broke his silence and publicly addressed his ongoing health issues and cancer battle.

“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” the king's Feb. 10 statement began. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world,” his statement continued. “My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

The monarch was diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer after he was admitted to the London Clinic, a private hospital, for treatment of an enlarged prostate, which the palace said was benign. Additional testing conducted while he was there revealed “a separate issue of concern” that doctors determined was cancer, according to a Feb. 5 Buckingham Palace announcement.
