Katie Couric is officially a grandma!

The former Today co-anchor shared that her daughter Ellie Monahan and son-in-law Mark Dobrosky welcomed their first child, John Albert Dobrosky, on March 23, at 8:23 a.m. at “just shy of seven pounds.”

“He will be called Jay in honor of his maternal grandfather. Albert is after Mark’s paternal grandfather,” Couric explained on social media, adding that she’s “thrilled” to have her first grandchild. “We feel so blessed,” the Virginia native concluded.

Couric shared photos of the proud parents as well as ones of herself and her youngest daughter Carrie all holding little Jay in the hospital.

Jay was the name of Couric’s first husband (and Ellie’s father) who died from cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.

Couric elaborated on the experience of becoming a first-time grandmother in her newsletter, Wake-Up Call.

“Witnessing your baby have a baby is wild,” she mused. “Ellie had an easy pregnancy and took good care of herself. I know she’s going to be a wonderful mother, and I know Mark will be a parent who is an equal partner. Jay was like that. It makes all the difference in the world.”

As for her new name? Couric said she’s going by “Gogo,” for now.

“My sister’s nickname is Kiki, so I couldn’t choose that,” she explained. “I felt like everyone is Gigi — and while that was going to be my name, I decided on Gogo after a friend told me that was what she used.”

Congrats, y’all!
