It’s Fashion Week! 8 Blogs for Foodies with a Stylish Side

Some may say that “food is the new fashion,” but instead of replacing one with the other, why not enjoy both? The hybrids are pretty obvious on Instagram at least, as style bloggers post pictures of their extravagant lunches and colorful smoothies, hence piquing our jealousy (we’re looking at you, Aimee Song).

But for some fashionistas, the connection to food means more than just snapping a photo; it means creating your own recipes, taking a bite out of the latest food trends, and not shying away from that second helping. Since today marks the beginning of New York Fashion Week, here are eight fashion blogs putting a unique spin on food.

The Spicy Stiletto

Serena Goh’s fashion sense is modern and sophisticated with an easy, West Coast tinge. But her dishes are just as trendy as her outfits. She has a long range of recipes with super foods fit for any cool girl, like matcha muffins, dragonfruit salad, and agave-topped anything. There’s also kale, quinoa, and avocados galore, but Goh knows how to tame a sweet tooth, too. You’ll find mixed berry cobbler, cherry pie crumble bars, and (gluten free!) chocolate-covered macarons.

Peony Lim

If you have a group of guests to entertain — nay, impress — turn to Peony Lim. (Take a look at her fashion editorials — note the one with a flowing red dress in the Maldives — and try doubting her elegance.) The recipes on her food page are conveniently categorized, so you can search by ingredient or type of dish. And that’s anything from pantry basics like avocado and bacon, to experimental celery salt and elderflower. You can even shop kitchen accessories like mason jars and baking trays from her site. Munch on mini smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels for a light brunch, take on a pistachio crust rack of lamb for dinner, or sip on the Asian Mind — infused with ginger, grapefruit, and gin — at a cocktail gathering.

The New Potato

A roundup of fall’s best sweaters and a list of where to shop for army jackets lie alongside breakfast recipes and donut shop rankings. (Plus, a “Global Fashion Week Survival Guide,” for those fashion lovers who actually aren’t afraid to eat in public.) This New Potato doesn’t revolve around one fashionable figurehead — in fact it was created by a pair of sisters, Danielle and Lisa Kosann — but rather, it curates articles ranging from health, to design, to entertainment, all in one fun foodie medium. (If you’re a New Yorker, be sure to check out Yahoo Food’s Editor-in-Chief’s recommendations for her ’hood Carroll Gardens).

Honestly WTF and Honestly YUM

Instagram: @honestlyyum

This two-fold blog started off as just the cheekily named “Honestly WTF” before developing an independent food section, “Honestly YUM.” Head to WTF for crafty tips — like how to make your own ripped jeans — fashion campaigns, art, and outfit ideas. Meanwhile YUM is your destination for meals, cocktails, entertaining, and food inspiration. Besides the recipes and entertaining tips, another really useful detail is the “Photo Diary” section, which includes eating guides to cities around the world, like San Francisco and Seville.

Peace Love Shea

Instagram: @peaceloveshea

Blonde beauty Shae Marie hails from Southern California — as her tousled locks suggest — and focuses on fashion, beauty, and fitness. Though it might not be easy to replicate her designer outfits (Pucci, Valentino, and Balenciaga are all somewhere in the credits), copying her recipes should be much easier on the mind — and wallet! Her whole health and fitness page features guilty-free dishes that are high on fruits and veggies, and that you can make right at home. There’s a grilled ratatouille, “skinny” mojitos, low-fat potato salads, and more.

The Chriselle Factor

Instagram: @chrisellelim

New mom Chriselle Lim started out as a stylist before running her now-popular website and accompanying YouTube channel. Now, her channel — which includes her travel diaries, daily outfits, and beauty how-to’s — has over 500,000 subscribers and counting. She can stun in anything from a floral sundress to white jeans and heels, but she also has a knack for healthy snacks. Clicking over to her food tab will lead you to an array of homemade detoxes, juices, and smoothies.

A House in the Hills

Instagram: @sarahyatesmora

This lively blog was created by photographer couple Sarah and Lou Mora. Sarah spends more time in front of the camera as the website’s head style guru and chef. Her style is effortless and simple, and so are her dishes — although they don’t always look like it. Her latest is a figgy olive chicken, right in time for the beginning of fall, while others include a fruit slushie and a radish salad.

Style Within Reach

Instagram: @caitlinkruse

Caitlin Kruse’s style is cute, simple, practical, and most importantly, affordable. She aims to offer tips and inspiration in fashion, food, entertaining, interior design, and motherhood in ways that won’t break the bank. (In one post, she sports Old Navy jeans; in another, she promotes a baby sale at Target.) She has dishes ranging from pesto pasta to pregnancy-friendly smoothies on her recipe list, but she also charms with adorable baked goods like heart-shaped cookies. (Extra mom points!) Need ideas for styling your dinnerware with that dish you just made? Kruse’s got you covered with an entertaining section solely dedicated to tablescapes.
