Hand-Raised Wallaby Is Successfully Reintroduced to Her Family at Australian Reptile Park

Rescue and rehabilitation centers, zoos, and animal parks are such a blessing for animals that need some help. Australian Reptile Park shared a story at the beginning of December of a baby wallaby who had to be hand-raised after her mom had some pouch issues, and it's the feel-good story of the day!

Matilda is a yellow-footed rock wallaby and when the park realized that her mom couldn't care for her, Keeper Seleena stepped in to become her surrogate mama. She bottle fed her around the clock and helped her grow and get stronger. She weighed about a pound when Seleena started caring for her, and by the time she was ready to be reintroduced to her family, she weighed more than 8 pounds. The process to get Maltida to go back home with her family was a long one, but it was worth it!

This story seems to have a happy ending! Not only did the mob of wallabies welcome her back with open 'paws', but Maltida and her mom also reunited. It was so cute when the touched noses and got reacquainted! @Australian Reptile Park commenters enjoyed the video too. @HelloHoney swooned, "She’s so beautiful. You’re a good mama!" I wondered the same thing that @Remus did, "Did her mom recognize her as her offspring, or was she just curious about a new face?" I'd like to think that her mama recognized her!

Animal Stories with Happy Endings

We all love a happy ending, and there are plenty of them out there for us to enjoy. Pearl is an adorable, rescued cow who lives at Sleepy Pig Farm, and she escaped slaughter to live the good life there and she aspires to become a supermodel! Benny the goose was bullied when he was little, and they didn't think he would survive. He was rescued, and now is thriving with Purely Chickens. Belle the pig was rescued and rehabilitated by Ziggy's Refuge. She was severely neglected her whole life and was 400 pounds underweight when she came to them. She's a whole different pig now, and very happy at her new home.

Not all of us can afford to or have the space to rescue animals, but you can still help! You can donate time, goods, or cash to local shelters, rehabs, etc. You can offer to foster pets until they find their forever homes. You can help transport animals as well, which is always a big help.

My favorite way to help is to show your support by promoting these rescuers on social media by sharing, liking, and commenting on their posts (the more interaction a post gets, the more eyes will see it.) You can promote their causes and fundraising efforts this way too, as well as by word of mouth. It's such an easy thing to do and it doesn't cost a cent!
