Grom Gets 'Wave of the Day' at Kelly Slater's Surf Ranch (Watch)

The saying "never meet your heroes" does not apply to Kelly Slater and Cruise Wasilewski.

The grom got an invite to Slater's wave pool over the weekend and surfed it with his dad, former pro surfer and WSL commentator, Strider Wasilewski.

From what we've seen, it looks like Cruise's dreams came true.

Strider posted the video above yesterday on his Instagram page, captioning it:

"@cruisewest and I lining one up at @kswaveco ! Cruise said, “dood, we are at @kellyslater wave, we got invited by @kellyslater ! I mean how cool is that…” thank you Kelly!"

In the clip above, Cruise, who's regular foot and about nine years old, is scoring an overhead left at Kelly Slater's Surf Ranch.

Cruise is on a shortboard, as he, ahem, cruises backside on the wave, and even gets pretty shacked near the end.

Meanwhile, his dad was spotting him on a foamie longboard while stabilizing Cruise by holding on to his rail.

In the background, we can hear someone cheering the kid on. We would've been too.

Nice wave, Cruise.

The duo ended the wave with a high five.

In the photo below, which Slater reposted in his story, Strider wrote:

Someone got the Wave of the Day award. Thanks @kellyslater @kswaveco.

Congrats to Cruise for the Wave of the Day award. <p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CwfZ7Sroixm/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Strider Wasilewski;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Strider Wasilewski</a></p>
Congrats to Cruise for the Wave of the Day award.

"Of course, viewers loved the clip. Here's a few of their comments:

"Tube time at that age… how incredible"

"More barreled than us mortals can be"

"Wow and that’s hard riding and balancing doing that! Dad props"

"That IS cool Cruise!"
