The world’s best surfers are in South Africa right now for the Corona Open at J-Bay.

Six commentators have been keeping us entertained as they dissect the world’s best surfers doing what they do best.

A few days ago while the contest was on hold, the WSL posted a video on Instagram with each commentator introducing themselves and each other.

In the video above, we see the faces behind voices: Joe Turpel, Peter Mel, Strider Wasilewski, AJ McCord, Richie Lovett, and Paul Evans.

The WSL captioned the clip: "Whilst we enjoy a lay day here in South Africa, let's get to know the #CoronaOpenJBay commentators 🎤"

“Each one gave a brief introduction before passing the cam to the next:

“Hi it’s AJ and I’m passing the phone to someone who has forgotten more about boards than I’ll ever know,” said AJ McCord, a sportscaster, award-winning journalist, and former gymnast.

We’re not sure what that means but maybe Mel’s forgetting board 101?

“Hi, I’m Peter Mel, and I’m gonna toss to the winner of the 1995 Haleiwa surf event,” said the big wave surfer.

That Haleiwa winner also won at Lowers in 2003.

“Hi, it’s Richie Lovett and I’m about to pass to one of the most well-rounded, accomplished, and lethal goofy footers on the planet,” the Aussie cancer survivor and former pro surfer said.

We all recognize this guy.

“Hey there this is Strider Raspberry Wasilewski and I’m passing over to ‘the voice of the WSL,’” said the former pro and owner of Shade Sunscreen.

This one really is nicknamed "the voice of the WSL."

Hi, I’m Joe Turpel and I’m gonna pass the phone to a man that has one of the best surfing minds in the world, and a vegetarian by the way," said Turpel, who’s been commentating at CT events since 2007.

We always wondered about Evans' diet, thanks, Joe.

Hi, I’m Paul Evans and I'm gonna throw to someone who’s got the best interview questions in the world, ever,” said Evans, a former ASP commentator.
