Golden Retriever Wags Tail With Pure Love While ‘Studying’ Newborn Baby

Bringing home a new baby and introducing it to your pets can be a beautiful experience. It's amazing to see our pets instantly bond with their new 'sibling' and how curious they are about them. Peach is a Golden Retriever whose recently met her new baby, and it was instant love!

Wedding photographer and new mom Arika Shelest shared a video on Monday, May 13th of Peach meeting and 'studying' the baby and it is absolutely precious. The baby is in a basinet, and Peach is as close to it as she can get, gazing at the baby lovingly. Watch her excited tail wags as she stands guard over the baby - she can't stop staring at the tiny tot and you can see how much she already loves her!

This is such a sweet moment! Arika said in the caption that she knew Peach would do good with the new baby, but that this moment was precious. I couldn't agree more! Commenters adored the tail wags too. @alyssa parsons swooned, "Just sitting and wagging. So much love!" @Zoe Elizabeth410 joked, "I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this…that’s not your baby anymore...she belongs to Peach now, so sorry!" @Kaisey W said, "Peachy loves some baby!" and Arika replied, "Just wait. We’re almost to the throwing food on the floor stage. She’s really gonna love that LOL!"

Dogs and Babies

We all love seeing our fur babies and our human babies together, and it's so cool how the dog just knows that it has to be gentle with the baby, even if the baby isn't always so gentle with the dog! The bond they develop is like the ones between siblings, and it's so wonderful to see the love between the two.

How can you tell if your dog loves your new baby? They show their love in many different ways. Clearly from this video you can see the love in Peach's tail wags and how she's staring at the new bundle of joy. When your dog stares at you, they're admiring and loving you! Think about it, when you are in love you stare at your significant other and 'gaze' into each other's eyes. While you do that oxytocin (the feel-good hormone) rushes to your brain. The same thing happens to your dog.

Arika will probably find Peach stealing things from the baby's room. Our scents are very important to our dogs and smelling them makes the dog feel secure and safe. It's one of the strongest bonds they have with us. We recently brought home a new puppy, and she loves stealing our socks and slippers. Why she'd want our stinky socks may not make sense to us, but to them, it's one of the sweetest smells in the world.

I hope Arika will continue to share videos of Peach and the baby together because I love watching the interactions between fur babies and their human siblings and all of the firsts that they experience together.
