Elon Musk, Taylor Swift

Elon Musk issued a warning to Taylor Swift after learning the pop superstar had been named Time Magazine's 2023 Person of the Year.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, Musk posted to the social media platform he purchased last year, sharing a cautionary tale with the 12-time Grammy winner on the premise that her recent endorsment may be a bad luck.

"Some risk of popularity decline after this award," Musk wrote. "I speak from experience lol."

The 52-year-old was previously named Person of the Year in 2021, with the publication’s then-editor-in-chief and CEO, Edward Felsenthal praising his impact on “life on Earth, and potentially life off Earth, too."

But in the two years since, Musk has faced a series of controversies including claims of antisemitism after several advertisers pulled out of promoting their content on X (formerly Twitter), boosting conspiracy theories, allegations he's fired employees that disagree with him, and more recently, a rough parental rights dispute with his ex-girlfriend Grimes over the couple's three children.

But it wasn't all jokes for the Tesla owner, as he also congratulated the "Look What You Made Me Do" songstress for the prestigious recognition.

Though Musk's popularity may have taken a hit after being promoted by the publication, it appears as though Swift's experience is going differently as the artist has received an outpouring of support since the outlet revealed she was this year's special edition cover girl on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

In her accompanying interview, Swift appeared more vulnerable than ever–opening up about her budding relationship, training for her biggest concert series ever (the Eras tour), dealing with the infamous and "manufactured" frame job at the hand of Kim Kardashian and how she's regretted her past decisions dealing with fame.
