Dog’s Dramatic Face While Getting His Nails Clipped Is Oscar-Worthy

If there's one thing that most dogs dislike, it's getting their nails trimmed. And many pet parents won't even attempt to cut their dog's nails because it's such a challenge and there's so much drama involved. Schneiders On the Go do cut their dogs' nails, and their Rottweiler has some trust issues with dad when it's his turn to get a trim.

Mom posted a video at the end of February 2023 of her husband trimming their dog's nails. There's not much more to say about it other than the dog's face had me cracking up! He was clearly a little leary of the whole process, and his face proved it!

I've watched the Schnieders' video and laughed every single time! It's so funny when you see human emotions on a dog's face, and that's definitely what's going on here. Some of the 600+ comments made me laugh, too. @kateydmorr pointed out, "He’s gotta check after each clip that he still has toes!" and the Rottweiler's mom replied, "My guy is veryyyy suspicious!" @luckymacha01 said, "OMG his precious face" and mom said, "He’s so nervous hahaha!!!" And I laughed at @Mads who admitted, "Honestly I feel the same way at the nail salon."

Tips for Nail Trims

We all think of Rottweilers as tough dogs, but when it comes to getting their nails clipped, they turn into big babies. There are some tips and tricks to make trimming dogs' nails a bit easier, and some people get pretty creative with how they get their dogs to sit still for it.

Some dogs don't like having their feet and toe beans touched, so you've got to get them used to it. Start by rubbing their paws and feet to get them used to the sensation and more comfortable with you holding them.

Make sure when it's time to start clipping, your dog is calm and relaxed. Don't do it after a bath when they get the zoomies or right before play time. Do you know where your dog's nail 'quick'? Different dog breeds have different length of nails, so research your dog's breed to find out where it is on your dog. If you clip their nails all the way to the quick you will accidently cause them pain because nerves and blood vessels are located there.

It will take some practice, but many people would rather use a Dremel tool to file down a pooch's nails (yep, they make a special tool specifically for this) and find it much easier than actually clipping them with scissors. If your dog has black nails, I found a vet who shared a simple tip from trimming them. Or if you're like me and too afraid to do it, find a groomer or even a friend who's comfy doing it and enlist their help.
