Cygames celebrated the Granblue Fantasy franchise’s tenth anniversary by releasing a fun music video. Starting as a browser-based gacha game, the Granblue Fantasy franchise has seen games released across various genres. Be it fighting games, mobile RPGs, anime, or even a full-blown action RPG on consoles, the Granblue Fantasy series has quickly grown in popularity.
The music video, titled "Granblue Fantasy 10th Anniversary Movie", was released on March 10, 2024, ten years after the release of the first mobile game. Watch it below.
“This 2-minute video depicts the trajectory of the game so far, and every moment and every cut is filled with highlights,” reads the video’s description on YouTube (translated via DeepL). The song in the video is sung by Tomoki Ono, Hisako Kanemoto, Nao Higashiyama, and Rie Kugimiya.
Before this, the Granblue franchise celebrated other big wins. Granblue Fantasy Relink crossed over one million units in sales across all platforms in just 11 days with positive reviews from critics and players. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, the fighting game, continues to add new fighters to the mix, including Nier Automata’s 2B.
Granblue Fantasy: The Animation follows the adventures of a young aspiring skyfarer, the eponymous Gran. His peaceful life is thrown into disarray when he meets Lyria, a mysterious girl with amnesia and the power to connect with the primal beasts of the land. accompanied by her bodyguard Lady Katalina. Gran agrees to help Lyria and Katalina escape the clutches of the evil empire and makes new friends along the way.
If you're unfamiliar with the franchise, you can check out the anime adaptation. The show is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and does a good job of introducing the characters and the world to a new audience. Fair warning: the anime is a little slow, spending too much time meandering with few set pieces in between.
