How are you celebrating Mother's Day this year?

Mother’s Day has meant different things to me over the years. The best ones were when I got to share them with my mother. It felt like a special day only we got to share together. The first few after she passed away were hard. The other day, while taking my son Will to school, he asked me when the holiday was. I told him it was in a few weeks. He said well, I want to make you a card because a card I make you would mean more than a card I buy at the store. It melted my heart. I told him that I would love a card he handmade. And he got excited that he would talk to my sister and have her help him make me a card.

Mother’s Day is a time for meaningful gestures, often the most cherished gifts are the ones that come from the heart. Your library offers so many resources for the mother in your life. If you are a mother reading this, we also have resources on pampering and self-care. Being a mother is a rough, tough job, as one of our children’s storybooks states. Motherhood can be hard and time-consuming, so make sure to take a break at the library. You can even bring the kids to storytime to get a little break and connect with other mothers.
