If you're obsessed with your pets like I am, it can be difficult to imagine what it's like for an animal living in a shelter. There's a lot of alone time, not a ton of space, and so many unknowns. It breaks my heart to even think of animals waiting in a shelter for their forever home, but stories like Bear's leave me absolutely shattered.

This sweet gray and white cat had lived with his family since he was a kitten, but he was surrendered to the Chesapeake Feline Association at the age of 4 when his feline siblings began bullying him at home. He became scared and reclusive after the attacks, and he also gained a lot of weight. The Maryland-based cat rescue posted a video of the 24-pound cat in hopes of finding him a loving owner to help him heal. I sure hope their efforts pay off!

Oh, Bear! I wish I could teleport to Maryland to give this confused shelter kitty the love he deserves, but it comforts me to know so many others feel the same way. @Chesapeakefeline is doing a great job shining the spotlight on the animals who need it the most--and it's already paying off. Several commenters have already shown interest in adopting this charming, overweight cat!

Tons of other viewers are sending their love to the sweet, innocent cat. @Thechad17 said, "Sorry your humans failed you Bear. I could never give up my cats. I would work with them to get along with other pets." I like the way you think! There are many strategies pet parents can take if cats don't get along, from using separate spaces to trying desensitization therapy. Many animal shelters can help connect owners with trainers, too, so surrender doesn't need to be the only option.

As of two days after Bear's video hit the Internet, his profile is not on the Chesapeake Feline Association's Petfinder list. I sure hope that means he's been adopted!
