Bird Dog on Her First Trip to Cabela's Clearly Understood the Assignment

A German Shorthaired Pointer named Ren took her first trip to Cabela's sporting goods store on August 21, and to say she understood what she was bred for is an understatement!

Check out the following video posted by TikTok user @_Deadlynedley_ of Ren encountering a stuffed turkey.

She just has perfect laser focus! Mom posts, "When you take your bird dog to Cabela's for the first time." LOL.

Bird dogs, like German Shorthaired Pointers, have a natural instinct for hunting and retrieving. They are often trained to follow scent trails, locate hidden birds, and retrieve them without damaging the game. If this taxidermy turkey was the intended prey, we have zero doubt that Ren would have grabbed that big bird and ran!

TikTok users are super impressed with Ren and with over 1.4 million views we can understand why.@Leann comments, "Hahaha my dog did this at the stuffed wolf and kept looking back at them. We laughed so hard!" @David adds, "The first time I took my Bluetick Coonhound to Cabela's he was climbing the wall and baying at a bear they had in the ceiling. The whole store heard him." @Shawn's dog had a different reaction and said, "Mine was scared of the fish." LOL.

German Shorthaired Pointers have a strong instinct for pointing. When they catch the scent of game, they may adopt a characteristic "pointing" stance to alert hunters.

Or dog moms, in this case. Now Ren just needs to be trained to point at mom when she finds an item on a really steep discount at Cabela's! She's such a smart pup, we are sure she could learn this!
