Anyone with a larger bust knows the pain of choosing between a bra that looks good and one that will actually support them. This PrimaDonna option is both fashionable and functional, with feminine lace and ample support and coverage. Dale is a fan, saying the brand is "pricey but worth every cent." That's thanks to deep molded cups that provide excellent lift for large breasts, ample side support that smooths out any lumps, and pretty details that make the bra stand out from the crowd.

One five-star shopper wrote, "As a large-breasted woman, this bra is marvelous. I've been buying them for years and still wear the old ones even though they are very worn-looking. This bra holds the girls where they need to be, and the underwires do not pinch or stab you. No muffin tops either. Just a great-fitting bra. Well worth the money."

Dora Lau, founder of intimate apparel company Dora L International, loves this bra because "it has the softest fabric and no wires to dig and doesn’t slip down." There's a cushioned hook-and-eye back closure with four rows to choose from, so you can tighten or loosen for a better fit. It's also lined with a super-soft material and has exposed spandex to help it stay put.

Hundreds of shoppers are fans of this supportive strapless bra. One said it's so comfortable that she wears it to lounge around the house: "I bought it to prepare to wear after shoulder surgery! Fabric: 78% nylon, 22% spandex | Bra sizes: C to H | Colors: 20 | Support features: Underwire, four-way stretch fabric, two-ply cups | Silhouette: Full coverage/T-shirt

If you're looking to downplay your cup size, this minimizer can reduce your bustline by up to 1.5 inches. Along with a built-in underwire, it boasts two non-padded cups that comfortably cover and support your breasts.

"Depending on the bra style and if you need a larger cup size, you might look for side panels or a wide back band and straps. These details are more critical in bras for people with fuller busts," Dale said. This option checks those boxes, with extra side and back bands that are made from a four-way stretch material that smooths any bumps and bulges.

One happy customer reported: "Full coverage, minimizing and comfortable! Best bra I've found in a long time. I am very large-chested, and it is extremely difficult to find comfortable, affordable and nice bras!"

The PrimaDonna Deauville is a "workhorse bra," Dale said — perfect for long, busy days. It's on the pricier end, but Dale said the three-part cup, which has an extra seam to support larger breasts, is extremely supportive and long-lasting. The elastic lining at the top of the cup is form-fitting, designed to eliminate the annoying gap between the breast and the cup, and the underwire is triple-wrapped for comfort.

"Prima Donna makes not only the best side-support bras, but also, the best-shaped cups, in my opinion. Wonderful upward support. No side overspill," raved one shopper.

Nowadays, having a full bust does not have to mean boring bras, said Kimmay Caldwell, undergarment educator at HurrayKimmay.com. "Panache is known for their small band, full-bust bras, and this Allure style is stunning and supportive," she said. The full-cup, non-padded lacy style gives a rounded and natural shape, while the power mesh at the back boosts ventilation and provides ample support.

While the bra only comes in black, that hasn't stopped shoppers from buying it in multiples. "This is the perfect bra for me. Full cup keeps my boobs where they should be, no spillage in any way. Love it so much I have three of them," said one.

"The bra lifts and separates really well, and I like how thick the lacy material is. It gives extra coverage, but it is still comfy and supportive at the same time," said bra-fit expert Kristin Polin, who chose this bra for our Best Support Bra roundup (it also made our Best Push-Up Bra guide).

Shoppers of all sizes rave about how much they love this bra. One self-described "curvy" reviewer wrote, "I found the bra to be true to size and supportive. The cup style offers natural cleavage without any extra padding and the lace is soft and sexy."

Fabric: 49% polyamide, 36% polyester, 15% spandex | Bra sizes: B to J | Colors: 12 | Support features: Encapsulated cups, high-impact support, padded straps | Silhouette: Sports bra

All-around support is crucial when you're working out, and this underwire bra with wide, cushioned straps claims to reduce bounce by 83%. It has encapsulated cups that support each breast individually to prevent the dreaded "uniboob" look that even the best sports bras can create. It can also transform into a racerback bra with the use of a J-hook, and it has smooth, flat seams to prevent chafing during workouts.

"I don't know how they did it, but this bra has managed to be supportive and flattering at the same time which I have yet to find in a sports bra up until now," raved one shopper. "Very minimal bounce when running. Comfortable to wear and my boobs look so perky in it!"

"This is a great everyday bra that offers support and a sexy lift," Lau said. The balconette shape gives your girls a boost, and the straps are fully adjustable to help you find your ideal fit. The supportive, molded cups have hidden underwire that's designed not to dig in to your chest.

"I love, love this bra. I've had about three of them for sometime now, and they don't fade. They keep the girls intact, which is precisely why I just ordered more. Highly recommend," wrote a shopper.

Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: B to K | Colors: 8 | Support features: Wide wing construction, molded cups, comfort band | Silhouette: Full coverage

Lau recommends the Cacique Comfort Bliss wire-free bra "for the ultimate in comfort with very light pads that lift and shape with a covered comfort and padded straps." It also comes in eight different styles, including pretty pastels and fun florals that are more interesting than the typical nude shades that busty bras come in. With thick, adjustable straps, a wide underband, stretch-fit cups and side- and back-smoothing panels, this wireless bra is designed to be equal parts comfortable and supportive.

"These bras are so comfortable it's unreal," a shopper said. "I've struggled for 20 years to find a bra that didn't pinch, bind or just feel overall terrible. I have sensory sensitivities and my needs for a bra that is comfortable are high. The bra has no lace, no underwire, no pinch or pulling."

Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: D to JJ | Colors: 8 | Support features: Convertible straps, mesh, three-part cups | Silhouette: Plunge

Caldwell said pretty much all Elomi bras are great for large breast sizes, but she loves this one in particular because "it has seams for support, including side support; plus fully adjustable, convertible straps, an amazing size range, and a plunge front. It's hard to find a more plunging front for full busts, but this center gore is lower and the bra keeps breast tissue in place." The straps can be converted into a racerback thanks to the J-hook, and there's an underwire for added lift and support.

"Much prettier and sexier in person than in pics," said a reviewer. "Looks great on, very supportive, and the stretch lace on top works perfect for me because I’m a little fuller on bottom, so makes the fit perfect."

How we chose the best bras for large breasts

To figure out which bras for large breasts deserved a spot on our list, we talked to bra experts, fashion designers and our own team of shopping experts. We also asked which options are in their own lingerie drawers, because there's nothing like a recommendation from someone who has bought and loved a bra themselves.

What should shoppers look for when buying bras for large breasts?

There are a few key factors to consider before you shell out for your next bra, experts say.

Size

As with any bra, finding your correct size is essential to staying comfortable and supported. "Bras are like shoes — the wrong size will feel awful," said Caldwell. Not up for a professional fitting? See below for more on how to measure your size at home.

Type of cup

In general, larger busts typically need roomier cups, so you might look for a "deep cup with lots of forward projection if you want to avoid a very wide look," Caldwell said. Lau added, "The cup should also have a bit of stretch, but not too much to offer the support, comfort, and shape needed for larger sizes."

Support

Every bust needs support, but especially larger ones. Caldwell suggests opting for bras with thick seams as they "not only shape the cup more forward, but they act like support beams on a bridge." Thicker bands are also necessary, as the band provides up to 90% of the bra's support. "The fuller the bust, the more work the band needs to do, so a wide, adjustable band, preferably made with some kind of power mesh or slightly firmer elastic, is a great idea," she added.

Straps

When it comes to bras for bigger breasts, the wider the straps, the better, experts say. "Wider straps provide increased comfort and support for those with fuller figures wearing larger cup sizes," Lau said. In particular, she recommended wide straps without stretch, saying they're more likely to give you the all-day lift and support you need.

Frequently asked questions about the best bras for large breasts

What is considered a large breast size?

Traditionally, anything over a D cup has been considered a large bust size. However, Caldwell said that bras range in size from AAA to S these days, so even D cups can feel on the smaller side. "My bra fit students and I agree that 'full bust' is anything over a U.S. cup size H in modern bras. If that feels uncommon, that's because big-box stores still only stock bras up to a DDD (which is an F) and haven't caught up to proper fit, real sizes, and inclusive brands," she said.

How can you measure your bra size?

While visiting a pro is always an option, it's possible to get an accurate size at home, experts say. "First, you will need a tape measure (measuring unit should be inches) in order to take your rib and bust measurements," said Noemi Diaz-Justino, senior design director of lingerie brand True & Co. "Holding the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap it snugly (not tight) around your rib cage. If the measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches. If the measurement is an even number, add 4 inches. Next, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap the tape measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Now subtract the rib measurement (with the added inches) from the bust measurement. The difference will determine your cup size. The guide for cup sizes goes like this: 1 inch = A cup, 2 inches = B cup, 3 inches = C cup, 4 inches = D cup, 5 inches = DD, 6 inches = DDD."

Are underwires necessary for larger busts?

You may think that underwires are a no-brainer for providing the support larger busts need, but that's not the case. "They’re totally optional, even for fuller busts," Caldwell said. "As long as the bra fits well, going wire-free can still provide the level of support and shape a full-busted person desires." Lau agreed, saying that modern bras have come a long way. "The benefits of today's technology make wireless bras perform just as effectively as with wires.”
