Ben Gravy Scores Hurricane Surf in the Netherlands
About a week ago we covered Ben Gravy surfing storm waves in Belgium. Before that he surfed a ferry boat wake in Germany.
So what'd the self-proclaimed novelty wave surfer do next? Well, since he's on a mission to catch a wave in every country in the whole world, he crossed the nearest border for another session.
That meant chasing a hurricane into the Netherlands. The good news is that he "SCORED!"
The chaser of weird waves captioned his latest edit above:
"This trip to Europe has been eye opening to say the least! Storm Surfing in Belgium & then subsequently chasing that same hurricane into The Netherlands & getting a little dose of the surf culture here on the North Sea has been so much fun. I can relate to these surfers heavily, because of spending my life surfing in New Jersey. We have very similar conditions...very challenging! haha. Thanks for all of the stoke & support for what I do! FOR THE DREAM!! - Ben"
The vid kicks off with Gravy and his videographer, JT, arriving at the beach to find windy, small waves.
"We are going surfing in the Netherlands. It's on," Gravy says.
He then surfed some small rights on a soft top, despite his recent claims he's stopped riding them.
In classic Gravy style, he's super stoked post-session even with the less-than-perfect surf.
"Absolutely went off! It was like chest high at one point. There were rights everywhere, wedges, firing!"
We love Gravy's enthusiasm.
After the session, JT says someone told him told him it's the biggest day they've had all year.
Gravy responded, "That one guy out there was saying this is the best swell in the whole summer so far. And we made it dude!"
"We're off to Switzerland!"
