Bella Thorne isn’t shy and loves to share her beauty treatments with her fans — all of them. On Tuesday, she Snapchatted her entire experienced getting her first wax with carefully placed squiggles making the videos PG.
As any first-time (or hundredth-time) waxer knows, bikini waxes are sometimes so painful you just have to talk about it. Thorne mentally prepped herself for the wax, speaking to the camera, “oh my god, this is going to hurt so bad.” Unfortunately for Thorne and for all of us, there’s not much you can do once the wax has been applied but grin, wait for the rip, and maybe scream a little. “Noooo, this is terrible,” she yells. Bella, we hear you.
While Thorne’s oversharing provides (vivid) insight into what it looks and feels like to get a bikini wax, esthetician Valentina Budnaysky of Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa has more advice for waxing newbies. Budnaysky recommends you “be sure to exfoliate the bikini area the day prior to waxing so skin is clean and not irritated.” Another pre-wax tip, she suggests, is to trim your hair a bit to help reduce pain. Once you’re in the salon, make sure your technician only waxes on cool, dry skin. (Another plain old polite tip: Don’t work out beforehand to avoid hot and sweaty skin.)
While Thorne may have embraced waxing for now, she has also opened up about loving her body hair. When she was trolled for having visible leg hair, she responded to the haters jokingly saying she would “NEVER” shave her legs. This is hardly the first time that Thorne has shared her beauty experiments with fans. She took fans with her as she got microblading, encouraged everyone to embrace body glitter, and eve try clip-on bangs. She even does her own makeup, thanks to a case of dermatitis she traced back to poorly chosen on-set makeup products.
Thorne may be a big beauty fan, but even more importantly she’s a fan of personal beauty. As she once commented on The View, “you can be sexy any way you want to be.” Just know that if your version of sexy involves a bikini wax, it’s probably gonna hurt.
