The Alarming Reason Bella Thorne Does Her Own Makeup: ‘I’ll Never Let That Happen Again’
Should the acting thing not pan out, Bella Thorne has a secret talent she can put to solid use.
Yes, Thorne — the pierced, outspoken, and almost disconcertingly blunt actress, singer, and social media sensation — does all her own makeup. For everything. All the time. So the cat eyes she sported while promoting her new Freeform series Famous in Love in New York? All her own doing.
“Do you know how rare that is? I did my own makeup today,” she says. “Anytime I’m wearing makeup, just know that I’m doing it. I got dermatitis from working on a movie, and I’ll never let that happen again. Especially on movies, they don’t use the right products and my skin is allergic to a bunch of stuff,” Thorne tells Yahoo Style.
She thinks the cause was dirty brushes, and since that incident, she’s been ultra-careful with anything that comes near her face. Plus, she adds, after a long day of shooting, she doesn’t want anyone touching her up: “I don’t care if my nose is shiny. Please don’t touch me. So what? I’m playing a teenager. My nose is shiny.”
The reason may be different, but plenty of other stars prefer to gussy themselves up, rather than relying on expensive beauty squads. Diane Kruger, Zendaya and Carrie Underwood also do their own glam — either all the time, or on occasion.
“I had teenage sisters when I was little. I would always watch them. I was a human Barbie doll. I started loving makeup when I was way too young. I learned through trial and error. A lot of error,” Underwood tells Yahoo Beauty. “The [red] carpet’s a little bit different. I will sometimes think my makeup looks great in person, but lights can sometimes [make it look] look funky.”
