Amy Schumer is practically synonymous with body positivity and has inspired many to speak up about body-shaming and be more accepting of their own figures. One fan of Schumer, whitneyzombie, decided to share her own body-positive message by posting a side-by-side photo on Instagram that compared the comedian to a statue of the goddess Aphrodite to show how similar their figures are.

“What a wonderful resemblance between two beautiful women,” wrote whitneyzombie, who is a psychology major at the University of West Georgia. “So many women and young girls are shamed by the media and fashion industry for not having a flat stomach and not being a size zero. But look, the goddess of beauty is portrayed here with stomach rolls and doesn’t have a perfectly smooth, toned body.”

She added: “I want to remind everyone that they do not have to be a Victoria’s Secret model to be a beautiful goddess with a beautiful body. Your body is not bad, ugly, or wrong. Embrace your inner goddess.”

The post resonated with thousands of people, garnering more than 25,000 likes and more than 650 comments. While there were some negative comments bashing Schumer’s body, many of them were positive. Instagram user bglidden1962 wrote: “Amy is beautiful. Her body is awesome. I hope she continues to be a positive role model in that respect.” Another commenter, geniedreamslol, wrote: “Weight shouldn’t matter. It’s about how you feel and if you feel good and confident with ur current size that’s all that should matter!”

Kelwingwarren commented: “Great post! So true beauty come in all shapes and sizes. Some of us have been brainwashed to think there is just one look or body to be beautiful. And most of those people are trying to a make buck. We have to look at each other. Not just through the lens on TV, magazines, and pop culture and main stream media. It gets me so heated. We are individuals; that’s how we are created. That’s the beautiful and sexy thing. We have to own it again!!”

But the best praise of all came from Schumer herself, who commented on whitneyzombie’s post via Twitter: “I love this. Thanks for posting.”
